While earlier releases spring onion pancakes EP and debut album Bigness (Bandcamp’s Album of the Day) pulled from the world of mumblecore films, Cosmonaut (also Bandcamp’s Album of the Day) pulls from science fiction and space travel, as seen in the album’s artwork (a tribute to the art of classic science fiction books such as Dune and The Rings of Saturn, the song titles (‘Achieve Lift!’), and the live band’s outfits (the band wears boiler suits looking almost like a training space crew).

With 2020 finding Pickle Darling touring with indie-pop dream boats, The Beths, 2021 embarking on a 12-date New Zealand tour, and 2022 having them touring with Lucy Dacus, Pickle Darling has also been busy composing the score to indie LGBTQIA+ video game ShelfLife and finishing up their third album…
