Slide's New Video Has Us "Waiting" For Better Days
"LA is on fire, I don't know why." Slide's video for their latest single, "Waiting", was shot at a time when its beautiful visuals, representing the desert environments east of LA, represent a contrasting narrative of both love and fear, life and death, and the inner monologue common to us all. Who hasn't road tripped through the desert or equally stark terrain and felt like they were navigating a real time dream, surrounding by empty chip bags, drink cups and dear friends? Who hasn't, in that moment, contemplated that time is passing? The world is coldly moving past our control and we are only closer to joining the carbon laden landscape ourselves. Now, those narratives seem almost nostalgic, a passed time we have already navigated, but still equally lost, hoping "we still got time."
Slide, consisting of Albin Skeppholm and Simon Werner, said the song and its visual accompaniment were a reflection of everything going on, the fears and doubts that burden us and how a loving listener can help quell those anxieties. Hopefully this song is prescient that we can start loving and listening to each other, we could use it. "mommy come and get me cause I'm far from home…"
