chloe moriondo is as free as ever, and it shows in their new single "abyss," a shimmering track bursting with pizzazz. The song embraces letting go, surrendering to impulses, and dancing toward something vast and joyous. From its ‘70s-inspired bass groove to its modern, colorful pop whirlpools, the single is a vibrant, high-energy anthem that invites listeners to join in on the liberation.

A prelude to moriondo’s highly anticipated record Oyster, "abyss" draws on themes of the ocean, its endlessness, mystery, and the way the mere thought of it expands the mind. As moriondo’s siren-like vocalizations seep into each steady snare hit and flair-laced guitar strum, it becomes clear why this pop star is riding a high tide.

moriondo has been releasing tracks from Oyster in rapid succession, with "shoreline" and "hate it" arriving in January and February, respectively. Together, they paint a picture of a record unraveling a rich tapestry of emotions and themes. Songs like "abyss" reflect an artist fully hitting their stride. Despite its name, the track’s upbeat energy defies the concept of an abyss and instead puts a brave face to life’s hardships.

With a powerhouse team of producers including Jonah Summerfield (Holly Humberstone, Tommy Lefroy), Chloe Kraemer (The Japanese House), AfterHrs, and others, moriondo is poised to make waves. The plan is already in motion as they head to NYC for a series of album release events, including conversations with fans about the new album, that culminate with the record launch on March 28.

"No use tryna tame the sea / I can't seem to find a remedy / Leave the past in the past, keep it movin' fast," moriondo sings, words that could not be more fitting. As 2024 shapes up to be their most exciting voyage yet, fans have a front-row ticket to the ride, basking in the sheer splendor of music as enchanting as the sea and as heavenly as the clouds above it.
