Meet your new favorite ethereal pop princess. Today, vera releases her third single to date but offers more than enough to become an early fan. “wrong place, wrong timing” is a bittersweet reflection on love and loss, with a gorgeous soundscape to set the scene. After her debut single "summer insomniacs" garnering over a million streams and played on Zane Lowe's Apple Music radio show, vera is most certainly one to watch – and the new single further proves it.

The track opens with a simple piano, swallowed by dainty production and vera’s heavenly vocals. There’s a desperation in the vocal delivery that adds power to every lyric, conveying the heartbreak in more than just words. On the inspiration for “wrong place, wrong timing”, vera shares, “Sometimes neither partner does anything wrong and you’re stuck with this gut-feeling that maybe you’re on two different paths. Sonically, I wanted the song to feel as if you were sitting right next to that person while in real-time having the spiraling realization—even though you love them—it’s already over." The emptiness is felt from every aspect of the track, from vera’s performance to the subtle sadness through the beautiful production and captivating melodies. Cinematic drums pick up towards the end, but then subdue to make room for the delicately somber outro, ending on a note of regretful acceptance.

“wrong place, wrong timing” has an undeniable relatability and sonic perspective that makes it an essential addition to any indie-pop fan’s radar. Ride the wave early and check out vera’s small, but mighty catalogue now:
