OSTON Returns With Self-Aware Anthem “True-ish”

Vulnerable pop professional OSTON is back with her second single of the year, the emotionally charged situationship anthem that is “True-ish." The track shines in its relatability and passionate vocal delivery, both of which have become pillars of her signature sound. But the most compelling aspect of OSTON’s artistry is her continuous ability to compress specific, universal experience into sharp, celebrated lyricism. Her superpower is taking a classic situation and making you think about things from a slightly different angle, which is done masterfully in the profound moment that is “True-ish."

OSTON is a master of metaphors. You can find them sprinkled through her expansive discography and “True-ish” is a testament to this strength. The song begins with a few, but the standout is comparing non-committal men to the taste of coffee before it’s finished brewing. It’s the type of thought that feels familiar, but is delivered in an enticing new light. Over sleek pop production she sings about the almost relationship with equal parts annoyance and acceptance.

On what “True-ish” means to her, OSTON shares that “This song validates every overthinking session.” This is true in more than just the honest lyricism, but in the spirited cadence in which each thought flows out. As the song progresses, its energy transforms into a glittering pop soundscape. The final explosive chorus is so satisfying before a stripped back conclusion, one that feels like true, finite acceptance.

“True-ish” is a testament to the personality OSTON infuses into her music and joins a discography of relatable, open-hearted anthems. If this signals a new era for OSTON, we can’t wait to be whisked away by more perfect pop hooks and expertly crafted storytelling.
