Saint Lyor Fires a Warning Shot on "THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE" [Premiere]
Saint Lyor is a founding member of the Brockton, Massachusetts-based music collective Van Buren Records. Comprised of artists and producers, Van Buren Records has garnered the support of fans and industry alike over the past few years due to their relentless work ethic and their ability to churn out high quality releases from everyone on the label. While all the members are distinctly unique in their approach, they are creating a new blueprint for what quality rap music sounds like in Massachusetts and beyond.
Following up on the success of his IF MY SINS COULD TALK project from earlier this year, Saint Lyor returns to give us the premiere of "THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE." Directed by Noah Weisfogel, the video is a commentary on the surveillance state of America that attributed to the monitoring, sabotage, and eventual downfall of a lot of historic black leaders. Speaking on the video, Saint Lyor said,
"We pulled inspiration from the 70s where we saw many powerful black leaders fall because of federal investigations that intended to stifle their struggle for equality and economic empowerment. We wanted viewers to understand the thinking and overall energy that manifested out of creating a song like "THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE." We've done our research; we know how parasitic white supremacy can be, but we still remain strong and authentic to the cause"
