The Wrecks Kick Off Their Largest US Headline Tour with the First Half of Their Album, 'INSIDE :'

Where pop punk meets modern indie rock, The Wrecks awaits with their loyal cult following of alt-pop enjoyers. With the release of the first part of their upcoming album, INSIDE :, the band prepares for their US headline tour, kickstarting on April 18th in Berkeley, CA.
Lead single, “I Didn’t Used To,” is an alt-pop anthem with a soft spot for self-worth, using layers of kaleidoscopic instrumentals to tell a story of coming to terms with who you are. With his knack for narrative lyricism, songwriter and lead singer Nick Anderson unfolds a cycle of self-discovery and critique that never quite settles in acceptance: “Am I selfish? Am I bitter? Am I self-involved? Is it worse or is it better if I had known all along?”
Crystalline guitars outline the track, glittering over a vaguely midwest-emo riff, laying down an inquisitive foundation. While the verses leave room for the lyrics to ripple out, the choruses hit with The Wrecks’ signature gut punch. Rounding out a gauzy vocal stack with a counter-melodic guitar riff and driving drums, the chorus could not twist the heartstrings with more satisfaction.
INSIDE : is accompanied by a slew of other newcomer tracks. Tapping into licks of The Band CAMINO, “Why Can’t I Just Be Happy?” is a deliciously deceptive bop, with mournful lyrics set to danceable melodies. It’s balanced by the lusty grit of “Milwaukee’s Best” and careless catharsis of “I Don’t Know,” completing this set of ear worm tunes.
