WOLF Reminisces on a Dreamy Basketball Court in Hoops Video [Premiere]

Indie-pop singer-songwriter WOLF keeps it "real from the start" in her infectious ode to her friends on her newest release "Hoops."

Weaving together personal anecdotes and 808s with electric guitar, she doesn't shy away from detailing the candid conversations she has with friends, discussing everything from toxic relationships to the importance of loyalty in her evocative lyrics.

Hailing from Queens, NY, WOLF embodies a bold confidence that blends with her rich, soulful voice with hard-hitting SoundCloud rap beats that create her signature sound. That kind of unabashed vulnerability thats carries over into her music belies the aesthetic of her image. An artist in her own right, Wolf also creates her own artwork to craft the unique style that's completely her own. Scribbling lyrics on walls and sharing heartfelt moments with her sister, set her apart from the quintessential aloof cool girl.

Written and produced alongside Jackson Foote, "Hoops" pays homage to the days WOLF spent hanging out after school at the basketball courts with her friends. Though they did shoot hoops, she usually showed up dressed in platform sneakers - "shoot hoops in our jeans, only say the things we mean" - spending more time airing out feelings than actually putting any points on the board.

"Finding that kind of reliable honesty in someone is something I cherish the most," says WOLF.

Though she initially gained traction releasing short freestyles snippets of her music in 2019, Hoops nods to WOLF's ability to produce a compelling narrative, proving she's an artist to seriously contend with.

Hoops is out now.
