ilham Ushers Forth a Wave of Sensual Bliss With Self-Titled EP
Def Jam’s newest prodigy ilham is alchemizing love and fear into sonic bliss in her self-titled EP ilham, with its lead single “corazón” bringing sensual bliss to airwaves.
A New York native of Moroccan descent, ilham has made it a point to refurbish the music that inspires her as a burgeoning artist, including Sade’s “Is It A Crime,” The Weeknd’s “Crew Love,” and now, Cassie’s “Me & U.” She’s just as much part of the audience as she is an artist, making music that means something to the community she’s a devoted member of.
With the release of her latest self-titled EP, ilham has just begun to tell her own stories, and the Cancerian songstress has let boundless vulnerability be her lighthouse. Her voice is an elixir, entrancing you as she gives body to the emotions that navigating your own trenches would elicit.
“corazon” is the project’s lead single for obvious reasons. Discovered by French Montana and co-signed by Karrueche, who feature and direct the song’s visual respectively, there isn’t a doubt that the singer-songwriter is building a solid foundation for her spot in the industry. “corazon” is an effortless hit, even getting Cassie’s approval with a cameo appearance.
There’s raw heart in her ballads, and it’s difficult not to find yourself dizzied by introspection while you listen along. As ilham strips herself down, she reveals herself to be a mirror of the human experience of love, letting her voice be an invitation to feel it all.
