Jon Vinyl's "Told You" Is the Soundtrack to Your Makeup Sex
With a voice that can only be described as the sonic personification of butter, it's hard to believe that Jon Vinyl's "Told You" is actually about communication issues. The Toronto singer-songwriter arrives with a brand new music video and track, to be featured on his forthcoming project set to release later this year.
In the music video for "Told You," we witness an all-too-familiar argument between Vinyl and his significant other, one which is summed up in his own words as the interpersonal battle between "me versus you" and "us versus the problem." The cold snowstorm and sense of disconnect between the couple are juxtaposed by the intimate, candlelit scene to follow, signifying a shift of mood presumably sparked by Vinyl's lyrical proclamation of love. Fellas, take notes.
Vinyl shared the personal meaning behind his new single, sharing, "The ideation of 'Told You' sparked during a tough break up. My significant other and I weren't on the best terms, ultimately leading to a huge lack of communication in our relationship. I was in this hopeful headspace where I felt like I needed to let her know that she is my person and that we can get through this, which wasn't easy. Feeling quite helpless, I turned to what I know - the pen and paper - to create this song which encapsulates all the things I was having trouble expressing to her back then."
"Told You" was produced by Kevin Efoko (WizKid, Tobi and Loony), Shanks (Sir and Smokepurpp), and Ty Leon, and the music video was directed by Alimzhan Sabir and produced by Pique. Vinyl's cathartic songwriting and captivating voice continue to shine, keeping fans excited for what's to come on the young talent's upcoming project.
