Bearings Return with Explosive Pop-Punk Anthem "Quick Release" From Upcoming LP | THE NOISE

Ottawa pop-rock group Bearings have made their highly anticipated return with the release of their new single "Quick Release." The track, which will be featured on their fourth studio album Comfort Company (out November 7), is a unique blend of pop-rock and pop-punk that candidly criticizes the status quo and asks the listener, "What happened to doing things for the love of the game?"

The single is an explosive, fast-paced pop-punk-influenced effort boasting a catchy guitar riff, matched by a gritty, low bassline. Amid the dynamic production, the band's unwavering dedication towards their craft shines through, especially on unapologetic lyrics like "I don't need no diamonds/I'll do all this shit for free" and "Don't you find it kind of weird?/We're all looking for a purpose."

On the new single, Cousins added, “'Quick Release' for us embodies our time as a band. Years of hard work, years of touring different countries together, all the good and the bad. An acceptance of doing music - or really anything you love - just to do it, because it’s yours and because it’s what you love.”

Speaking about the upcoming record, Cousins said, "Comfort Company is for us the record that feels like coming back home. Some songs we wrote at a cottage together, others came from a basement. They all started somewhere honest and ended up back at the studio where we did our first album in the East End of Toronto. This album was working on music all day, walking to the beer store, then heading back to the windowless studio to relax before reading Kurt Vonnegut and eventually falling asleep on an air mattress. As we worked out what we wanted it to sound like, we found ourselves wanting to make music that felt natural to us, something that we knew we'd connect with and be able to spill out on stage when the time came to perform it."

Alongside the album release, the band will head out on tour this November, joining As It Is as direct support on their headline US tour. The tour kicks off at Boston's Brighton Music Hall on November 7 and will hit major cities including New York City, Asbury Park, Chicago, Nashville, and Atlanta. After this, Bearings will set out on their very own headline dates later in the month.
