Maths Time Joy and Rich Work Towards Healing on "Move"
Despite the global pandemic bringing most things to a standstill, the last year has been more than eventful for British producer and DJ Maths Time Joy, born Timothy Worthington. Now, the Grammy-nominated producer reunites with New York-based artist Rich for "Move," the next intoxicating installment from their forthcoming collaborative project. The track is a soothing and immersive display of the duo’s undeniable musical chemistry.
The track is the fourth single to be released from this new collaborative project and follows on from last month's release "Cut the BS." The pair's debut single "Change," released back in April, and "Cut the BS" were both fueled by Rich's realization Rich that he was in an abusive relationship. That and the aftermath sparked a cathartic outpour of these incredible tracks.
"Move" is a sonic experience full of warping and buzzing synths, silky and soulful vocals, and deep reflection. The pair went back to LA, the city where they first met, to create the mesmerizing single. "Rich initially came up with the demo idea and I loved it straight away," explains MTJ. "I think this was the moment we realized we shared the same intuition musically and the project developed from there."
Touching on the importance of taking heed, time, and putting "one foot in front of the other," "Move" is a gorgeously reassuring, hypnotic offering. "I had been recording and touring extensively for the past couple of years leading up to our first session together, but there were moments when it felt kind of like I was running on a treadmill," adds Rich. The Connecticut native went on to explain that he thought of the song as mostly a "reminder to myself to breathe, take it slow, keep my balance, and move forward inch by inch."
The upcoming EP from these two exciting artists looks to be peppered with clever, relatable, and therapeutic songwriting and is a must-listen for anyone who is ready to grow and move towards healing.
