Genre-defying alternative band Crossing I’s Dotting T’s are back with their first single of the year, “All Feelings Aside.” The dynamic alt-rock group, comprised of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matt Mucerino, lead guitarist Soren “Zo” Crisell, bassist and backing vocalist Oli Humbucker, and drummer Luke Caro, has been described as “emo-gressive alt-rock” and a mix of new grunge and punk by listeners. However, at their core, the Southern California band shrugs off genres and delivers compelling music fueled with unbridled emotion.

“All Feelings Aside” is a more mature and upgraded version of the band’s style. It opens with an intentionally disjointed and jagged sound collage full of squealing guitar and bass lines and minimalistic yet consistent drum patterns. Mucerino’s vocals weave in and out of the constructed chaos, leading listeners through the track as he chillingly laments about not getting what he wants out of life and sinking into the floor. The soundscape further intensifies, mixing layers of clean singing with shouty vocals and haunting, enigmatic instrumentation.

The song then bursts into an aggressive chorus with Mucerino repeatedly singing, “I don’t want to be here anymore.” “Honestly, the clean singing is my favorite part,” says Mucerino. “This is the first time I have done clean singing on a track, and we are proud of how dynamic the track sounds and how it sounds like there is a maturing in our sound.

"All Feelings Aside” follows the success of the band’s debut self-titled EP. Starting in his bedroom and car in Southern Orange County, Mucerino began to write songs until he teamed up with producer Alex Estrada of Pale Moon Audio. (Joyce Manor, Touché Amoré, and Nails). Mucerino revealed that the more punk-centered debut record was inspired by the death of his cousin and best friend, who passed away to cancer at the age of 21. As a result, the songs openly explore themes of depression, anxiety, questioning society, the inevitability of death, and feeling unwanted.

Mucerino shared that they want to go big sonically and atmospherically on the band’s upcoming album. “We want it to be emotional and biting and for you to have goosebumps listening. So it touches on the same emotional subjects as we usually write about: depression, anxiety, fear of the future and unknown, and all that good stuff.”
